Caring For the Environment
We thought we would put together some information below on our products and values in keeping our business environmentally conscious. I hope it helps! Naomi (founder and designer)
Made in Britain:
At the heart of Seed Home Designs is the desire to remain British made and where possible support our creative economy. It has not always been an easy journey, but we are proud to keep our fabrics printed in the UK and products either made in house, locally or within the UK. Our enamel mugs are laser etched in Cornwall and we are always keen to look towards building relationships locally as well as across the UK to produce bespoke interior accessories and soft furnishings to order or collaborate on projects.
Eco-Friendly Fabrics:
We print our fabrics to order in the UK on a 2-3 week lead time. This means that you can choose to have the chosen design printed onto either cotton drill or a natural certified organic fabric. Our cotton fabrics are printed using digital pigment inks which is one of the most eco-friendly methods of printing as it uses no water during the process so there are no soapy residues or liquid discharges from production. Digital printing is 95% less energy than the traditional screen-printing method and there is virtually zero waste created during the process as the discharge of inks to fabric is so accurate.
Paper for Plastic:
As we continue to develop our products and continue to care about our environment, we try wherever possible to consider the materials or options available to work towards a more eco-conscious business and avoid using unnecessary packaging. We create textiles, so whilst we need to protect our fabrics from marks and damage, we are always working to lower our use of plastic to an absolute minimum. We use paper wraps to hold together our coasters and fabric card packs and exchange plastic for tissue paper wherever possible.
